Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

At Pennington C of E Primary School, we are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. One way we do this is by making the best use of Pupil Premium funding, which is additional support provided by the government to help disadvantaged pupils achieve their full potential.

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is extra funding given to publicly funded schools in England to improve the attainment and progress of pupils who may face disadvantage. This grant helps schools provide targeted support so that every child can succeed.

Who is eligible for Pupil Premium funding?

  • Free School Meals (FSM): Pupils currently eligible for free school meals, or who have been eligible at any point in the last six years.
  • Looked-after and previously looked-after children: This includes children who are in local authority care or who have left care through adoption, a special guardianship order, or a child arrangements order.

Service Premium

The Service Premium is separate from Pupil Premium and has different eligibility criteria. Schools receive £300 per pupil for children with a parent serving in HM Forces or who has retired on a Ministry of Defence pension. This funding is used to provide pastoral support for these pupils. If this applies to your family, please let us know so we can ensure your child receives the support they are entitled to.
