Year 2 Transition to PJS

Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for completing the survey; it has helped us to formulate our plans. We are really excited to welcome your child to the PJS community and we want to offer transition opportunities before the end of term despite the challenges of Covid 19.

We are hoping to offer 2 transition sessions for each child on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning before the end of term.  We will let you know when your child is able to attend on Monday 29th June but the group will not necessarily reflect their class for September. We are looking at this as an opportunity for us to meet the children, talk about September and discuss class groupings with the children.  It will also give the children the opportunity to meet the team here at PJS and to familiarise themselves with the new environment.

School looks very different at the moment and we are asking everyone to ensure they keep 2 metres apart from each other to keep everyone safe.  Only one child is allowed in the toilet area at a time to ensure we are social distancing.  We will talk the children through all of this on the first day in. To help with this, we have put lots of measures in place to ensure the children and adults in the school are safe.  Please look at the website, under the Covid 19 section if you wish to watch the video, see the map and read the risk assessment and the information about the school day.

We are very keen to meet as many parents as possible in order to give everyone a chance to ask questions and so we would like to invite you to attend socially distanced meetings in the playground (weather permitting).  As we cannot have our normal transition meeting, we thought meeting in the playground in small groups would be a good compromise.  Please reply to the survey to let us know if any of the times below would suit you and we will organise the meeting for Wednesday 1st July from 3.45pm in 15 minute slots (see below). https://forms.gle/urbCoFoqrpBX35gU9

•    3.45pm – 4pm
•    4pm – 4.15pm
•    4.15pm – 4.30pm
•    4.30pm – 4.45pm
•    4.45pm – 5pm

If you cannot attend any of these meetings and you would like to meet us, please contact us and we can organise another time.

Yours Faithfully,

Kirstie Richards
