Ofsted Inspection November 2017

The areas where Ofsted identified that we should continue to improve match those we had already identified and have been working on since September.

  • Since the last inspection, turbulence in leadership had led to a decline in standards in the school
  • The proportion of pupils achieving, at least, age related expectations is below the national average
  • Pupils make inconsistent progress over the course of key stage 2
  • The quality of teaching is variable across the school. Many changes of staff over the past year have reduced the overall quality of pupils' learning experiences over time
  • Where teaching is less effective, it does not closely meet the needs of pupils or help them to build rapidly on their previous learning
  • Pupils do not manage their own behaviour consistently well. Too often, they are not ready to engage with learning, and need the skilful support of adults to remain focused on their work.

The overall judgement is that the school requires improvement; however leadership was judged to be good. It is unusual for this judgement to be different from the overall one, but this reflects the inspection team's confidence that we have the ability to address all of the issues raised in the report quickly.

We would like to invite you to a meeting on Thursday 7th December at 3:15pm and 6.30pm to share the school improvement plan and our vision for the future.
